We aspire to highlight the spiritual work that the Church has performed over the centuries, so as to impede efforts that denigrate this contribution. Delving deeper into the history of past societies, we aim to discover the crucial role of the Church and how it shaped course of history.
In association with the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopaidi, Honeybee Audiovisual is producing a lengthy ninety-minute (90-minute) creative historical-religious documentary entitled ‘The Enlighteners of the Greek Nation, 1453 to 1830’. The documentary explores the role of the Church in the awakening of the Greek nation during Ottoman rule, until the revolution of 1821. The interconnectedness of faith with human societies has been prevalent through the ages and it is well known that ‘the revolution of 1821 succeeded thanks to the passion and faith of a handful of people, though everything pointed to the opposite outcome. Join us and uncover the events that lead to the victory of the Greek nation, from a purely spiritual standpoint.
This series aspires to capture the shocking military, political and diplomatic events of the decade 1912-1922, attempting to take advantage of the findings of current historiography and answer the crucial question of how Greece - a country that in the Balkan wars found itself at the peak of its recent history - fell into ruin in just ten years.
We completed the co-production of a series of 15-episode historical documentaries entitled "1912-1922: The ten-year expedition of Greece" in collaboration with COSMOTE TV. The series broadcasted on COSMOTE TV's COSMOTE History subscription channel. The 15 episode series focuses on the most critical decade (1912-1922) of modern Greek history, which shaped the physiognomy of modern Greece more than any other. During this period there have been successive wars (Balkan Wars, World War I, Greco-Turkish War) which upset the entire Balkans, dragging almost all the Balkan states into a vortex of atrocities.
We aim to showcase the personalities who marked history at the international level, the intense conflicts at every level, social, political, national and finally the high stakes for which our hero is called to fight and sacrifice everything if necessary in order to achieve victory.
We are producing a series of 6-episode historical documentaries on the life and work of the brothers Alexandros and Dimitrios Ypsilantis entitled "The pioneers of the Revolution". The series will highlight the wealth of the Greek Diaspora during the pre-revolutionary years, the networks of Greek expatriates throughout Europe, the mechanisms of their development in foreign imperial courtyards, the osmosis with the ideas of the Enlightenment in the great centers of European education. This will unfold the tangle of one of the most brilliant revolutions of the Greek era, through the presentation of the deeds of one of the most historic and noble families of ecumenical Hellenism, the Ypsilantis family.
ERT's documentary series "Islands on the Edge" is a cinematic look at the daily lives of people living on remote Greek islands, outlining the life, history and challenges they face.
The directing team, consisting of Giorgos Savoglou and Dionysia Kopanas, tells the stories of these unique places in a way that combines sensitivity and artistic depth, revealing the connection of people with their environment and tradition.
The series has also achieved international success. The episode about Sharia, one of the islands, has been screened at festivals in the US and Italy, gaining the respect and attention of international audiences. These international participations highlight its cultural and artistic value, bringing the life of the critical islands to a wider audience and inviting viewers to understand and feel a world that is distant and unique.
The series is shown on ERTFLIX and consists of two cycles that cover a multitude of islands, creating a multidimensional canvas of images, emotions and everyday moments. Each episode turns the remote and unknown into an intimate journey, rich in authenticity and emotional power.
Through a cinematic look, the experiences of the people, their stories, the past, the present and the future of these remote places are captured. Each episode is a journey, a collection of images, faces and daily life. An attempt to understand a different world, a small, isolated land surrounded by sea.
